Tough Loss |
-Mar 07 2010 |
On a very controversial goal the Jr. B Wolfpack season came to an end as they got swept by the NJ Rockets in exciting MJHL play. The Jr. Wolfpack lost the fist game 4-0 as they struggled to find their way Friday night. They had all the chips against them with over a 3 hour bus ride and a game that started over an hour late, the NJ Rockets took advantage and put the Pack down one game to none. But in game 2 the heat swung the other way and the Jr. Wolfpack came out to a 1-0lead, a lead they held for most of the game. The NJ Rockets finally chipped one home past goaltender Sam Peluso but the goal was kicked in by the NJ player the goal that tied the game and swung the game in the hands of the Rockets. "It is an awful way to lose and I am not happy with the call. The whole arena including the NJ bench saw the kick but the guys in stripes always win whether they are right or wrong. It just is sad to see the season end on a call like that. I am proud of the boys they battled hard and we out played them the entire game," said Chris Cerrella. The Jr. B team will have a get together on Monday as the players will say their last good byes for the season. "It is a tough thing ecspecially for these players. I saw the kick from the other side of the rink I am not sure how the refs allowed the goal to stand. But the positive thing is that we played well enough to win, both our A and B teams faced some controversial goals in the playoffs but they continued to battle full steam. I am very proud and very impressed by the way our teams competed," said Dan McCarthy.
