Mandi Schwartz is a 22-year old member of the Yale women's ice hockey
team. She comes from a talented hockey family with two brothers who also play
hockey; Jaden, her younger brother, was a top draft pick in this summer's
NHL draft. However, Mandi was recently diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia
for the second time. After the diagnosis, she immediately returned home to
Saskatchewan and underwent intense chemotherapy. She is currently in
remission, but she needs a stem cell transplant within the next 30 days in
order
to survive.
I am contacting you because my summer tournament team, Flew the Coop/Team
Cooper is raising money for Mandi. It is crucial to her survival that we
help raise money to help pay for cord blood donations.
To raise money we are doing a goal-a-thon. I am asking that you pledge a
few dollars for each goal scored by our team throughout the weekend
tournament. After the tournament is completed I will contact you and let you
know
how much money you owe and where to send the check.
I am really excited to help Mandi and her family, and hope you can help
her cause. Please read the following articles to learn more about Mandi's
story and please pass it along to any expectant mothers you know.
Thank you very much. I look forward to hearing back from you,
Aleca
